Confusion surrounding Bartell death During a school meeting Thursday night, Rocori High School officials reported shooting victim Seth Bartell had died, causing grief and shock throughout the community. However, the St. Cloud Hospital reported Bartell to still be in critical condition the same night.
Friday morning a press conference was held to dissolve the rumors surrounding Bartell's medical condition. Shortly after the conference concluded, Bartell did pass away at 1 p.m. Medical staff did not report the death immediately in order to give the family time to privately notify friends and relatives.
Although reports had said Bartell was improving, hospital staff said his condition had been deteriorating over the last two days.
The hospital is not providing details regarding Bartell's death in order to comply with patient confidentiality rules and give family members private time to grieve.
SCSU receives grant for diversity plan SCSU can now start a long-term plan to fight discrimination with a newly received $24,000 grant awarded by the Otto Bremer Foundation.
Resulting from recent accusations of being anti-Semitic and discriminatory, the university wants to provide a more welcoming environment for incoming students. Programs supporting inclusive ideas will be available for faculty and other SCSU leaders. The grant will be renewed if satisfactory progress is reported after one year.
